2009 Preakness Winner

What a great Preakness Stakes! While a light rain started just before post time it had little affect on the outcome. Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird took off at 7-1 odds. The favorite Rachel Alexandra started at 9-5.

Rachel Alexandra took off to the lead at the start of the race. She led the entire race and was just amazing. Mine That Bird raced in the back and made the same cut for the win as he did in the Derby but pulled up short and finished second.

Congratulations to Rachel Alexandra, the 2009 Preakness Stakes Winner! The first philly to win the race in 85 years and only the fifth overall. Mine That Bird second by a half of length and third was Musket Man.

Here are the payouts for the 2009 Preakness Stakes
